Shane Harper scores 100th career WHL goal
Everett Silvertips Press Release
Everett, WA - Thomas Heemskerk stopped all 25 shots faced Saturday night to help lead the Everett Silvertips to a 5-0 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins. In Everett's final regular season home game, Shane Harper scored two goals to reach a career milestone of 100 WHL goals. Heemskerk earned his fourth shutout of the season and seventh of his WHL career. First star of the night Chris Langkow had a four point night (1G, 3A) while Zack Dailey picked up two points (1G, 1A). Byron Froese rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips Saturday night. After Tri-City's loss Saturday night, Everett needs one point tomorrow night against Spokane to clinch first place in the Western Conference and U.S. Division.
Harper collected his team leading 41st goal of the season on the power play at 6:16 of the first period. Langkow found Dailey in the slot before the Silvertips captain found Harper on the back door beating Chilliwack goalie Braden Gamble for a 1-0 Silvertips lead. Everett collected their second power play goal of the game at 16:09. Dailey scored his 10th goal of the season after receiving a Langkow pass in the slot and firing the puck top shelf blocker side for a 2-0 lead.
After a scoreless second period, Everett collected their third goal of the night just nine seconds into the third period. Langkow collected his 21st goal of the year after receiving a pass out of the corner from Harper to the slot where the Everett forward beat Gamble high glove side. Froese made the score 4-0 for Everett at 6:07. Scoring his 29th goal of the year, Froese walked around to the slot from the back of the net before going top shelf. Harper set another milestone at 11:45 scoring his 100th career WHL goal. Harper's shot from the right circle deflected off a stick, went into the air, and dropped into the back of the net for a 5-0 Everett lead. Heemskerk stopped all 10 shots faced in the third period to help secure a 5-0 victory for the Silvertips.
This brings the 'Tips record to 46-20-3-2 with 97 points in 71 games played. Everett finishes their regular season tomorrow night in Spokane for a 6:00 pm puck drop against the Chiefs.
