Rajcic Wins WHL Marketing / Public Relations Award

Edmonton, AB - The Western Hockey League announced Wednesday at the 2010 WHL Awards Luncheon that Zoran Rajcic has won the league's Marketing / Public Relations Award. In Rajcic's eight-year tenure with the club, the Silvertips have introduced a variety of innovative marketing and promotional efforts in becoming one of just three WHL teams to draw at least 200,000 fans per season over that span.
The 2009-10 season saw the Silvertips make several advancements in their marketing, game presentation and community efforts. After six seasons of strong attendance and support from the local community, dubbed "Silvertip Country", Rajcic, along with Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert and the diligence of the respective National Hockey League teams, the Silvertips and Comcast Arena at Everett welcomed the first NHL game to the Puget Sound region in 12 years when the Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning met in Snohomish County for a pre-season game on Tuesday, September 22nd in front of 7,281 fans.
Another project that Rajcic oversaw in the past season was the refurbishment of the Silvertips Zamboni, in which a discarded and inactive Zamboni from a local rink was assembled into a sleek vehicle with custom panels, LED lights, a 47 inch Samsung LCD television in front, cushioned embroidered seats and XBOX capabilities capable of holding 10-12 people. Rajcic helped retain the support of local businesses, who contributed their own effort into its assemblage and presentation. Representative of the sturdy relationship between the Silvertips and the local community, all parties understood that the creation of the Zamboni would have far reaching effects for public relations, fundraising, and game-night entertainment.
Rajcic oversaw much of the club's community relations, which culminated last Saturday with the American Cancer Society's presentation of the Community Partner Award after a year in which the Silvertips and the ACS joined efforts to raise money to support cancer research, education, programs and services to help those effected by cancer. The Silvertips along with Providence Comprehensive Breast Center and the American Cancer Society held their first "Pink the Rink" night in October, raising over $12,000 for the American Cancer Society as fans were encouraged to wear pink and bid on limited edition pink sticks autographed by all members of the Silvertips as well as Vincent Lecavalier, Peter Mueller, and Steven Stamkos. Rajcic has also assisted the fundraising efforts of Sherwood Community Services with the Scoring Goals for Disabilities fundraiser and has directed the teams multiple food and clothing drives.

"It exemplifies the hard work and effort the Silvertips staff puts forth during the season through working with our sponsors, community partners and terrific fans to create a wonderful atmosphere at Comcast Arena."
The Silvertips will begin their eighth season in Silvertip Country in September, 2010.
