'Tips Select 12 Players at WHL Bantam Draft
Size is key as Silvertips select eight players at least six feet tall

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips were able to add to their size and depth Thursday when they welcomed 12 new prospects to their system at the annual WHL Bantam Draft, held at the Fantasyland Hotel in the West Edmonton Mall.
Of the twelve players selected by Everett, six are forwards, four are defensemen, and two are goaltenders. British Columbia leads all provinces with four players selected by the Silvertips, followed by Alberta with three players chosen. Saskatoon and Manitoba are home to two of Everett's draft picks. A total of 235 players were chosen by the 22 WHL teams in Thursday's draft.
The average height of Everett's picks is 6'0, which includes three players listed at 6'2 or taller. Eight of Everett's twelve players are at least six feet tall.
Everett's first two selections were the 24th overall pick Ryan Chynoweth, a forward out of Lethbridge, AB, and the 40th overall pick, Tye Hand, a defenseman out of Yellowknife, NT. Everett acquired the 24th overall selection as well as the 68th overall selection after sending the 18th overall pick to the Edmonton Oil Kings earlier in the day.

C Ryan Chynoweth 4/8/95 Lethbridge, AB 6'0 / 150
- A big, physical center that is capable of playing both ends of the ice and chipping in offensively. The son of Kootenay GM Jeff Chynoweth and grandson of the late WHL Commissioner Ed Chynoweth, Ryan is a high character individual that the Silvertips are excited to bring into the organization.

- Tye is a big, rangy, mobile left defenseman who moves the puck well. Known for his physical play, Hand is very difficult to play against.
