Everett, WA - Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced Wednesday that two-time Team Captain and American-born center Zack Dailey has committed to the University of Alberta for the 2010-11 season, putting to use the scholarship provided to him through the Western Hockey League's educational package.

Dailey, a righthanded shooter from Healy Alaska, finished his Silvertips career by appearing in 330 WHL games, ranking second in club history. Over five seasons in Everett, he tallied 133 points on 38 goals and 95 assists, along with 221 penalty minutes and a +19 rating, making the playoffs in each of his five seasons. An alternate captain in 2007-08, he was announced as the Team Captain of the Silvertips on September 17, 2008, remaining in that position for two seasons and helping guide the club to 97 points in 2009-10, tying for the most in the Western Conference.

A mainstay at schools, hospitals and someone who acted on behalf of many charitable foundations around Snohomish County, Dailey won the 2009-10 Silvertips Community Relations Award and was the Western Conference's nominee for the 2010 Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy, presented annually to the WHL's Humanitarian of the Year. He also was presented with a Silvertips Iron Man Award and the Booster Club's F.I.E.R.C.E. Predator Award in 2008-09, and the Silvertips Coaches Award in 2009-10.

Dailey becomes the second Silvertip to commit to the University of Alberta hockey program, joining 2005-07 Silvertip Jason Fransoo, who enters his fourth year of eligibility with the Golden Bears. Last season, U of A finished first in the Canada West Conference with a 23-4-1 record and won the conference championship by defeating the University of Manitoba two games to one in the finals. Their season ended on the final day of the CIS University Cup, as they fell 3-2 in overtime to the St. Mary's Huskies in the championship game.

Dailey has a history in Edmonton, having been drafted in the third round, 53rd overall, of the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft out of Sherwood Park.

The WHL Scholarship not only encourages its graduates to pursue a post-secondary education, it also affords graduates the opportunity to continue playing hockey at an elite level in the Canadian University or College systems. Each year over 300 WHL graduates receive a WHL Scholarship. For every season a player plays in the WHL, they receive a full year guaranteed Scholarship.

The Silvertips begin their eighth season in the Western Hockey League at home on Saturday, September 25th against the rival Vancouver Giants. For interviews, feature articles, and information on season tickets and ticket packages, please visit www.everettsilvertips.com or call (425) 252-5100.
